A Peek At Spring
Suddenly I realize
That if I stepped out of my body I would break
Into blossom.

An intimate view of one of these wildflowers.
a bit closer
It was downright frigid when I went out to take this photo this morning. About 41F. I'm surprised the flower was smiling! The temp is expected to rise thirty degrees by the time the sun heats things up for us by three o'clock.
That's the nature of the desert, especially in the seasons other than summer. The sun heats the air and the clear night skies let it all escape.
So the moment the sun sets, the temperature drops like a rock.
The summer is an entirely different matter. It gets so hot, over 100 degrees, that the ground actually gets hot. So even if the skies are clear, the earth holds in much of the heat so that the overnight lows don't get down much more than the seventies, if we're lucky. (But that's still a thirty degree drop!)
I can pretty much tolerate the heat at about 103F pretty well. When it gets a couple warmer than that, I'm uncomfortable. At 110F, I'm flat out miserable!!
Even though I say that now, just wait - when it hits 100F, I'll start talking and complaining about the weather.
Consider yourself forewarned.
