21st Amendment and 20th Century Bowling
No -- Cynthia and I didn't go bowling tonight. It was Brewer's Night at the Copper Hog so we went to sample a couple of the 21st Amendment Brewery's offerings with dinner. The brewery is named after the Twenty-first Amendment to United States Constitution, repealing the Eighteenth Amendment which had mandated nationwide Prohibition.
I had a pint of the Fireside Chat, a spiced winter ale, with my catfish and yam fries. Fireside Chats is the name that was given to the series of thirty evening radio addresses given by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt between 1933 and 1944.
Cynthia chose a glass of Lower DeBoom, a barley wine, to go with her Bourbon Cashew Chili. Thanks to Google, I now know that Corneliius DeBoom was a Belgian ship owner who arrived in San Francisco in 1848, and began speculating in real estate. 21st Amendment's brewery is located on the site previously occupied by Mr. DeBoom's office.
Neither of us got any photos worth blipping inside the Hog. We took out our cameras and started shooting as we walked back to where we'd parked, outside 20th Century Bowling. I saw this display case of strange artifacts just inside the door. When I went back out to the car I saw a strange glow. C was sitting in the passenger seat reviewing her photos on the camera's LCD display. Naturally I photographed that. You can see it here.
