Thread of the Warp

As my Valentine flowers are starting to droop I decided to try for a macro shot. Wow, these are not easy are they?? This is one of about 60 shots of lilies - who knew you could approach them from so many angles? I love lilies, and I love the simplicity of the stark contrast of the bright bold rigid stamen against the delicate shades and colours of the petals. The stamen (plural stamina or stamens, from Latin stamen meaning "thread of the warp")

I had a particularly nasty trip to the dentist today which I hope not to repeat again. I had to get a filling replaced, and decided to register with a new dentist. After a series of mishaps and x-rays with what looked like 1950s equipment, I got my coat on to leave and he called me back into the chair claiming he didn't like the look of his work and proceeded to start drilling again!
