Purple crocus
According to legend this flower got it's name from Crocus, a young shepherd boy who had fallen in love with Smilax, a beautiful nuymph. The gods, impressed by the depth of his love, transformed him into the crocus flower to give him immortality. Then, so that the lovers could be together forever, they made Smilax into the evergreen yew tree.
