This is not a hoax....

.....Owen's homework consisted of traditional rote learning spelling of some new words, followed by the less orthodox task of creating a kidnap letter from Saturday's Guardian.. Initially I couldn't see the value in this latter exercise, but on reflection, it might be quite a useful skill for a school leaver in the next 5 years.
