Kalevala`s Day, Finnish Culture Day

The Kalevala is a 19th century work of epic poetry compiled by Elias Lönnroth (right on picture) from Finnish and Karelian oral folklore and mythology.
Väinämöinen (left on picture) is the central character of the Kalevala, a shamanist hero with a magical power of song and music, similar to that of Orpheus.
