Helter-skelter

Field trip!

Had a great day out at Plumpton College with the Year 1 and 2 children from our village school, including my son's class. It's such an amazing place - they run courses in everything 'countryside', from animal husbandry to wine production to forestry to metalsmithing... well, the list just goes on and on. The children are learning about plants so when they go on a 'field trip', they really do!

Although I'd been there before for one of my recent courses, I hadn't realised they also run educational days for schools, a bit like at Wakehurst. The children had a terrific time, planting seeds in eco-friendly paper pots they made themselves, playing some plant-based games and learning about different types of soil. They also had a go at digging a trench and planted some carrot seeds. And they were all so well-behaved, a real credit to the school and their teachers.
