Matt Bargery's Blips

The Royal Crescent, Bath

Today we visited some friends who live in a beautiful little village called Biddestone just within the southern tip of the Cotswolds on the Wiltshire/Somerset border. They live in a beautiful little weavers cottage with views across the village green, the quintessential British village scene.

After lunch we drove into Bath for the afternoon. It is truly a stunning city, at least as picturesque as Cambridge or Oxford if not more and was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987.

This shot is the Royal Crescent designed by John Wood the Younger and built between 1767 and 1774. It's grade I listed and is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the country. Only 500 yards to the East of The Royal Crescent is The Circus by John Wood the Elder which began in 1754 and was completed in 1768.

Apologies for the lack of comments/blips recently. I have been distracted by trying to buy a house and for the last few weeks it has almost completely taken over my brain. Next week should prove to be a better week for blips I hope.
