Move-in day
Sunday
A beautiful day for moving Laura into Miami University. She is moving in ahead of most of the freshmen as she is going to be playing in marching band, and they start band camp this evening. The rest of the freshmen arrive on Thursday, and classes start the following Tuesday. So its going to be a bit strange for her this week, staying in a nearly empty dorm. As is usual over here, her dorm room is shared with another girl (after Thursday). We were quite pleased with her room - it seemed better equipped than the one she stayed in for orientation earlier in the summer. We got her room set up, then around noon she had to register for band. We then had lunch in the town of Oxford, then went for a walk around campus until 4 pm when she had a general meeting. While she was at her meeting, we drove out to nearby Hueston Woods State Park and tried to get an ice cream, but they were all out!! We went back and had dinner together with Laura, then said our fond farewells, and we came home and she went to her first rehearsal. She was rather quiet today - although she's been ready and excited to go, underneath she's still nervous and apprehensive. But if she runs true to form, it wont take her long to make new friends. Good luck Laura, we love you!
