Mission Praise
The back of the well known hymn book called Mission Praise, with its bright and clear message.
"Let us praise God's glory". Why?
We enjoyed another great worship service this morning, everything from the dawn of creation to the new heavens and new earth seemed to be mentioned, and none of it could happen apart from the glory and greatness of God.
God spoke and worlds came into being. He said "Let there be light" - and there was light. He made the stars also - it seems by little more than a word and a sweep of His hand.
But to save me from my sin was not so easy. God sent His Son, not just to speak to the world, not even just to live the only perfect life seen on earth, but to go even unto the death of the cross. "Hands that flung stars into space, to cruel nails surrendered...."
No, not just a word but a work, the most significant work undertaken in the history of the universe. A work for two reasons - first to make totally clear the seriousness of sin in the sight of a Holy God, and then to express love in its fullest possible degree, which must be something done through deeds rather than just words.
"He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree". The glory is, He finished that work and then He rose again in the power of an endless life, so that "whosoever will" may receive His gift of salvation - forgiveness and new life, eternal life.
"Let us praise God's glory". This is my testimony as to why.... Many thousands or millions do praise Him, yet there are millions more who should and could be joining in.
