AIESEC Cultural Experience Tour
Oke, I have been postponing this story, because I guess it is going to be a long one. I just had such an amazing day, organized by AIESEC. I met a lot of new and interesting people and saw wonderful things. Most of all, I had the best time.
We were supposed to meet at the Lama temple this morning at 9 o'clock. This was quite early, because we had to travel for an hour as well. We were with a lot of people (maybe 50-60!) so we were divided into groups. I was in the A-team ;)
We walked around the Lama Temple with our group, had lunch together and visited the Confusion Temple with the whole group. But before the activities really started we did some "ice-breaking". We stood in a circle and told our name and where we were from. After that everyone could show a talent or do a typical thing from your home country. Someone sang Beijing Opera, someone did martial arts, someone sang another song, I did "Hoofd-schouder-knie-en-teen". Everyone had to sing along and it was a lot of fun.
During lunch we talked a lot. We were all very interested in the cultural differences and just in each other. We also, again, did a few games (Commando Pinkelen, but we did the German version of it) and the Chinese in our group tried to tell a few jokes and sing songs again :)
In the temples we got our own privet tour by Pearl, a Chinese girl who just knew a lot about everything. In the picture you can see my group at the Confusion Temple. I wanted to take a sneak picture, but Joanna saw me (as you can see by her typical Chinese pose).
We ended the day in one big circle in which one AIESECer danced and one sang. The singer went on and on and the dancer was already finished but he had to go on as well. I was again really funny. To conclude the day we exchanged e-mail addresses, phone numbers and skype-names.
Kaho and I had dinner with Joanna and Penny. But before that we had Chinese yoghurt with them and Marlene as well. It was quite weird, drinking yoghurt with a straw. But it tasted really, really good.
During dinner we talked about our work and what we think of it so far. We are coming across some difficulties and things that are different from the way we do it in our home country. We will have a talk with the headmaster of the center soon about all this.
We ended the day with some sugared fruit on a stick and we took the subway back to our apartment. There I went on skype as quick as I could, because today? my boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years! We couldn't really celebrate this, because I am on the other side of the world. But we did skype for more than an hour.
