Scoff, scoff, scoff
A gorgeously sunny day brought out all the animals. The guinea pig trio went out to mow the lawn and the neighbourhood cats came round to watch. This sent Whisky into a territorial spin and it was all action for half an hour or so. It took ages for Whisky's Big Tail to calm down.
Fred suffered a migraine so stayed indoors and in the quiet. I pottered around home and the high street, chatting to the fishmonger, the pet shop lady, the deli lady and the bakery guy. When I returned, I started cooking the dinner only to discover I'd mislaid two bags. This is quite normal. I tend to leave a trail of arrival items from the front door to the kitchen. However, I searched and searched and could not find them. I came to the conclusion that I must have left them by the self-service till at Tesco's.
Lo and behold, there was the bakery bag, but not my green bag. I was very puzzled and a little annoyed at the thievery. Then I realized that I'd had a free hand on my way to Tesco's (I was scoffing Tangfastics). If I'd had the green bag, I wouldn't have had a free hand and the Tangfastics would have been untouched. So, I retraced my steps to Sainsbury's (shopping in West Norwood for a recipe means that you have to visit all three mini-supermarkets to purchase three-quarters of the recipe ingredients - the remaining quarter requires a little substitution imagination). I spied my green bag as soon as I walked in. Oh how the security guard laughed when I told him about leaving a bag in Tesco's as well. Secretly I'm quite pleased that we had a laughing exchange because I've been trying to get him to smile for around a year. Now he will smile when he sees me, probably in a nervous fashion, wondering where my marbles have gone.
Overall I'm mightily impressed by humankind today. My bags could easily have been carried off and not handed in. After all, the bakery bag had some cakes in it.
Today I wish to share this picture of a dog licking an ice lolly. I love his face.
