Mizen in the mizzle

Foggy day, so we went to visit on of the most stunning corners of West Cork! Took Ma n Pa to the Mizen Head experience and we had great fun, the ghostly feel and quietness of the sea was most unusual. We had the place to ourselves, four very helpful staff and just the 3 of us! We were educated about Marconi's ship to shore and trans Atlantic radio struggle and the Fastnet lighthouse construction and stunned by the geology of the rocks.
We visited Crookhaven for a hot chocolate in O'Sullivans (full of photo's to make any blipper envious) and marvelled at the stories of how in it's heyday the port used to be so busy that you could allegedly walk from one side of the bay to other on the decks of ships. It was used as a the last stop for restocking for many European ships before heading off to America. What a sight that would have been, sadly there doesn't appear to be photographic evidence of this amazing sight.....but maybe it was a rather tall tale, but a good one all the same?
Went home the long way via Barley Cove and got a little feel of how still the day had been with this shot from the bridge across to the back of the sand dunes.
We were treated to dinner at The Black Sheep this evening. Thanks M&D.
