Ever so slow

I was going to post snowdrops from a woodland near Beetham Cumbria however I was surprised to find a very slow Slow Worm (Anguis fragellis) on a path. Very nearly got trod on. Very early to be seeing one of these harmless reptiles. It is in fact a legless lizard. About 16 inches long so not a baby. Picked him up to have a good look. Recent mid weather must have encourage this one out from hibernation. Put him back in the leaf litter for good measure.
