Old Stone
This morning, I photographed the oldest legible stone I've found so far in the local churchyard, dated 1779, but, like so many, it has no decoration or names; it is simply an upright stone slab about two feet tall .
Thisone, although only about 18 inches tall, and damaged by time, tells a bit more of the story; John Waddell and Margaret Struthers and a date which might be 1800/1820/1830?
Have to say, there are an awful lot of toppled stones , for whatever reasons , and a lot of litter too after some windy weather. Pity.
