...standing in front of the Watson-Fothergill building on the corner of King and Queen streets - that's two Nottingham icons for the price of one!
This old feller came up to me when I was taking this and pointed out a small relief of Queen Victoria on another WF building above the newsagents on the corner. Apparently this kind of detail is a feature of the architects. I then wasted quarter of an hour trying to find a statue of a monkey on one of the chimneys of the Nottingham and Notts Bank building on Thurland Street. Either this was Watson-Fothergill's comment on the bank owners tardiness in paying him or someone was pulling my leg, who knows...!?
