Banff Mountain Film Festival
Tonight, I missed my swimming lesson to go to the Banff Mountain Film Festival, in the Union Chapel, London, which was fab. Luckily, trailers and even entire short films are on the web, so here's a selection of what I saw tonight. Sit back, have a cuppa, and enjoy the film festival in your home (or wherever you are):
My favourite is this one, just for the sheer rush of it - men in linen suits catapult down a road in Yosemite at speeds reaching 70 mph. Bonkers. Second Nature
On the Trail of Ghenghis Khan: The Final Frontier - an amazing journey and the dog is awesome
Hanuman Airlines - two sherpas paraglide over the summit of Everest, breaking a world record in the process
Blue Obsession - exploring Alaska's glaciers
This is my Winter - bonkers snowboarding down whole, steep mountains
And finally: Ski Bums Never Die
On other news today, I had a filling. I had a check-up, then the dentist informed me that I needed a filling and he's just had a cancellation so he could administer the filling there and then. It's probably a good thing - it meant I didn't have The Fear until another appointment a week later. Afterwards, I managed to literally chew my lip due to not heeding the dentist's warning about numbness. I now have a fat lip.
A huge shout to the 2,000 cyclists who cycled en masse by parliament this evening. I was with you in spirit. I think the Cities Fit For Cycling campaign is starting to make people sit up and listen. With 75 MPs debating the issue tomorrow, that's a massive result already.
