Stopcock

Third emergency of the week - hot water tap began gushing water all on it's own. Butler would usually sort this sort of thing out but in his absence I called another man who 'does' who informed me about stopcocks. Unfortunately he can't 'do' till tomorrow so am in emergency drought conditions. Will survive the night on tonic water.
