I went out to investigate a new project I am being asked to help with. The stream channel and accompanying watershed has experienced urbanization in the last 10-years which has lead to a increase peak flows and daily flows both of which have eroded through the prior streambed and into a deep layer of deposited sands and small gravel. Conclusion; stream incision can and does happen and in this case the stream channel has incised 20- to 30-feet creating concerns for adjacent landowners and the City. Stayed tuned on this one as the solution could be pretty tricky to implement and there most certainly will be challenges along the way.
