Warm Down

One of the reasons for coming to Australia is to watch these guys play. I've always enjoyed going to the training sessions too especially when you see some of the past stars working with the youngsters. And while I know that it is necessary to warm up and warm down, I am still bemused by the need to sit on very cold ground in order to do so!

These lads are all professional sportsmen and a couple of them are among the highest paid sportsmen in Australia, but they always have time for the supporters, signing autographs, chatting and having their photographs taken (often holding babies!). And although there are trainers around, there are no security staff and I'm pleased to say no need for them. The fans wait until the training session is over before venturing onto the edge of the oval to talk to their heroes. I've been to other clubs training sessions too and the same is true there.
