Valentine's Day 2012
Today was a momentous day in our house...but not just because it was the Hallmark holiday known as Valentine's Day. Today was a HUGE day for Loren. He was presenting a Demonstrative Speech in his 6th period Speech Class (how to make homemade waffles), presenting his 7th Grade Exhibition to a panel of judges as well as judging two 9th grade Exhibitions! Whew!
After dropping Loren off for this big day I dropped Liam off with his bag full of Valentines and then helped in Landon's classroom. Afterwards I made an 'emergency' trip to Walmart to get Valentine's party supplies for Landon's class. For whatever reason, they didn't get the usual response for supplies like they usually do. Can't go wrong with some yummy cake-like cookies, cute heart plates and a couple dozen Capri Suns. It doesn't take much to please a bunch of 6 year olds. Just hearing the word 'party' is practically enough. :)
Then I ran back to Loren's school to deliver his ironed dress clothes to him for his Exhibition, get back the waffle maker/supplies/backpacks/etc, say a little prayer for him and pick up his pals (Chris, Addisyn & Natalie). I took them back to our place for just about an hour for an after-school snack and to hang out and then headed back to the elementary school AGAIN to be there for the exchanging of Valentine's! Addisyn and Natalie were happy to help in their sisters classes as well (their old stomping grounds)...so it worked out for everyone. The AWESOME news is Loren passed his Exhibition with all 4's (the highest marks) and he has the weight of the world lifted from his shoulders after such a nail-biting day. Way to go Loren...you worked so very hard on this project (the pic in the top left of the collage shows him holding the passing marks from the judges).
Whew!!! What a day! Luckily it ended on a relaxing note with the boys opening up their little Valentine's gifts from us. They each got a gift card to Cold Stone. Loren got a Tiger hat and his favorite candy, Swedish Fish. Liam got a wolf hat and Sour Patch Kid candy. Landon got a lion hat and Sour Patch candy. Gary and I exchanged cards as well. I thought it was SOOO sweet of him to MAKE me a card. Happy Valentine's Day and make sure to share the love the other 364 days of the year too! :)
