18th Century headstone

After Pilates I walked home through the old cemetery of St Mary with St Alban and discovered where the oldest stones are, this one dates back to the 1740's, I wasn't able to read the inscription but one nearby said 1742, I think it's amazing that these stones are still standing and I love the design and the way the ivy has grown over it.

I googled the meaning of the skull and crossbones and came up with this website which says that a skull and crossbones denotes Mortality and Death. I found another article that suggested it could be linked to Freemasonry, interesting...
