Bridge On the River Don

Out getting a lungful of fresh air, I was reminded of a guide, Billy, who accompanied us on a road trip through Thailand a few years ago. We travelled by the bridge across the Kwae Yai river just north of Kanchanburi. Billy was at great pains to say that the pronunciation of the name was Kwae, not Kwai. Otherwise the David Lean film title would actually mean 'Bridge On the River Water Buffalo'.
