Hazel Woodwart

Found in Hardwick Wood, Cambridgeshire and the log is definitely hazel. It is a member of the ascomycete family Xylariaceae and the scientific name is Hypoxylon fuscum. I will see if I can get the identification confirmed and come back to let you know.
