Six in a Row BNSF GE -9-44CW Locomotives

Railroad tracks are part of the landscape that I see from our back door. The right of way is on a hillside a mile or so away across several open fields. The trains appear to be about HO scale from our back door vantage point. We enjoy the train sounds as they rumble along the track sounding their warnings for the grade crossings and the big trestle in town. I think of them as my very own "train set".

I decided to get a souvenir shot as I will miss these freight trains very much when we move away from here. Today, I listened for the train to sound its horn as it traversed the Madras trestle over Willow Creek. Then I jumped into my car and drove to a place nearby the tracks where the train passes under Route 26. I arrived just in time for the arrival of these six locomotives pulling quite a long string of cars behind.

"The GE C44-9W is a 4,400 hp (3,273 kW) diesel locomotive built by GE Transportation Systems of Erie, Pennsylvania. Keeping in tradition with GE's locomotive series nicknames beginning with the "Dash 7" of the 1970s, the C44-9W was dubbed the Dash 9 upon its debut in 1993. The design has since proven popular with North American railroads.
BNSF Dash 9 #4723 is featured as a drivable locomotive in Microsoft Train Simulator, and the actual Dash 9 has stickers on its cab noting this." Wikipedia
