Lady Sage Days

Signs of dementia

This was mum's cushion that was loaned to us by the Occupational Therapists to prevent mum getting pressure sores through not moving about much.

Over time she's unzipped the outer waterproof cover and used it as a hideaway for various things.

She opened it recently and pulled a couple of the sections off.

Last night she opened it again and pulled loads of them off making it unusable.

I had to go to my friends flat today to take his washed clothing back. I discovered a note on the main door saying painters were expected to start work today but there was nothing other than the sign on the door.

Later this evening I had a phone call from the lady who lives in the flat beneath him saying about the painters calling and how they'd need to have the flat doors left open and if it was a problem for me she'd happily have the key or else I could open up for them and then leave her to lock up.

Not likely. My friend wouldn't want her in his flat so I politely but firmly declined. I told her if she rang me when they turned up I would come down and stay there until it was all done.

I have no real idea if this is going to work but if they can't get in she said they will not paint his front door and the frame. I may ring the housing association to enquire if the work can't be done on the day due to the current circumstances whether it would be possible to have them return.

I had the distinct feeling this woman just wanted to get into his flat. I've had just about enough of difficult elderly women for one day.
