Homespun Charms

Scene of the action!

Drove down to visit K and managed to arrive late morning as the roads were reasonably quiet. I have long been promised a tour of the unit where K works so after a quick coffee we set off. The 'birthing unit' has state of the art facilities and I was very impressed by the pleasant surroundings provided for the mothers-to-be. The pool fascinated me as the option of a water birth I think is a fairly recent innovation. The delivery room here is a far cry from the one K was born into!
In order to have a truly comprehensive visit we had to have a bit of retail therapy so after a spot of lunch we headed for the shops. One frivolous purchase provided us each with a 'blip'. I bought 2 ornamental hearts, one each as a small gift, K's appears on Wistful Moments. Mine will appear tomorrow! Then more serious stuff which resulted in some new jeans for me.
Back home we had a super curry and a couple of naughty chocolates (no doubt supplied by a grateful father) as a quick dessert. Then it was off to the cinema to see War Horse. I managed to not totally wreck my mascara by shutting my eyes for some of the more distressing scenes of horses on the battlefields. Knowing it had a happy ending I was able to watch and weep at the very touching scenes at the end!
Back in late but not too late for a small nightcap.
