The Theatre Royal 175th Celebration

I went out to help one of my best pals celebrate his 40th birthday this afternoon with his family and friends. We went for a lovely Chinese banquet at the Palace Garden on Stowell Street.

Afterwards we headed across town to Grey Street as the Theatre Royal was celebrating their 175th birthday with an assortment of street performers. The Theatre looked amazing floodlit in a vibrant turquoise blue and purple while the rest of Grey Street was transformed with such acts as the Master of Mischief, Phantoms of Fiction, The Starcrossed Lovers, The Sisters of Fate and many more. Unfortunately we didn't see the pyrotechnics explode from the top of the Theatre Royal but I think we managed to see everything else. And it was far too cold to wait around for the next showing. Instead we hotfooted it down to Popolo for a swift cocktail and to thaw out. It has a real 50's vibe and some of the rockabilly girl's hairstyles were fantastic.

There is a repeat performance on again tomorrow evening if you didn't get the opportunity to see it on Saturday.

You can see my friend OohLa's shot here.
