Sun, Snow and Snowdrops
The day started sunny, but cold and windy. This seemed like a good day to go to see the early spring flowers. We drove to Cambo Estate near St Andrews. This is not exactly a short hop from Aberdeen as it is about 80 miles south, the other side of the Tay Estuary.
Fortunately the weather remained relative kind and we were able to walk around the gardens of the estate. There are an abundance of snowdrops. The photograph only gives a suggestion of the masses of snowdrops. There were also a few brave crocuses. We also saw some charming little piglets. We went inside for a coffee, and I am ashamed to admit having had a ham sandwich, very thoughtless of me after having just been admiring the piglets. Returning outside we were surprised to see that it had rained.
On the way back to Aberdeen there was snow on the hills that had not been there in the morning. By the time we returned to Aberdeen the snow had reached road level. As the evening progressed we have had further snow flurries, but nothing too dramatic so far. Sunday may be a day for staying inside.
