Ultra 50K Runners

Today we visited Donadea Forest Park in Co Kildare and on the way from the carpark heard the cheers of supporters urging on groups of runners. It was a bitter cold day when the sun went in with sharp cold gusts and as we continued on our way through the forest playing hide and seek and onto feed the ducks these guys kept running through it all.

There wasn't much in the way of information or signs around to say exactly what the race was for but at the finish line the clock was reading 3hrs 42mins so I knew it was a lllllloooonnngg race.

After googling when I got home I realised that these fantastic runners were racing a 50k Ultra Marathon!! 10 laps of a 5km forest circuit...

I really wish I shouted and clapped them a LOT more now...well done all of you!! You are an inspiration!!
