Looming threat
Just to prove our own assumptions and feeling of 'never seen anything like this before', our Met office reported that yesterday's rain set a record for August. 76.2mm were recorded at Dublin airport over the 24-hour period between Friday and Saturday night, compared with the previous record of 73mm in 1986 in downpours associated with Hurricane Charlie.
Things improved today, but when I saw this sky around 6.00 pm I wondered if we were in for more of the same. Fortunately, the cloud thought better of it, and passed over without dropping its load.
