today a fellow intern in germany came to visit. he was in need of a place to stay overnight, since his plane leaves tomorrow.

it was nice to talk to someone and explore the city, and it turns out we have a lot in common. i greeted him at the bus stop with cold beers and fresh pretzels from the bakery, since it is his second to last day in germany! then we explored the old part of town and took a look at some of the churches. we also went into the german museum of architecture, which was alright. after a stop at the old opera house (which was closed, sadly, since i've never been to an opera), we went to the new part of town and saw the iconic skyscrapers.

personally i'm a fan of the older parts of town. i can see skyscrapers anywhere, but century-old buildings is a rarity in the US.
