snowdrop bamboo
This caught my eye as I diverted through the Botanics on the way home: an odd but pleasing contrast of colour, texture & character, I reckon.
This was my first walk through the gardens since the storm on January 3rd: 35 trees down, including some very old and much-loved specimens; 400 panes of glass blown away or broken across the green-houses. Part of the arboretum smelt beautifully of pine and fresh-cut wood, but the piles of chipped bark and chopped trees were a sad explanation of why.
