The Covenanters Oak, Dalzell Estate, Motherwell
This tree is the oldest living thing in North Lanarkshire, it is said to be 800 years old. The tree takes its name from those who adheared to the Scottish National Covenant of 1638 - The Covenanters who held their services under the shade of the tree even though holding or attending these services could be punishable by death.
