Jemma Al Fina, Marrakesh
This is the main square in the old part of Marrakesh, Jemma Al Fina. It starts to fill and swell with throngs in the late afternoon as people come to have their fortunes told from the many fortune tellers around, have photos taken with the water men, be entertained by the snake charmers, musicians, comedians and the many other people their plying their trades. At around 4 pm the food sellers come in and set up tables and tents and stoves. There is a huge degree of competition trying to get diners for their tables. We had dinner there the night before and as I turned the corner of the square and saw the scene unfolding my jaw dropped. To the left and behind in this image are the souks. This view is just a tiny section of the square taken from a roof top terrace.
