Palacio Salvo
The Palacio Salvo was designed by architect Mario Palanti. Construction began in 1923 and ended in 1928. At a height of 275 ft (84m) and 27 floors, at the time it was the tallest building in South America. All around the outside, and the inside "lobby" are these elaborate ironwork sculptures of marine life, fresh water life, insects and flowers, all very beautiful. Tall columns line the side facing the Plaza de la Independencia, creating a cathedral-like walkway. The outside of the building is very elaborate with stonework, balconies jutting out, and the building is visible from several blocks away.
