Found: Velvet Hat!
I was torn between 2 blips tonight - both fungi I found in my favourite lunchtime haunt of Brancondale Wood.
This is one of the many Auricularia auricula-judae (Jews Ear, Judas's Ear, Jelly Ear) which I keep finding in the wood at present (and which I've already blipped a couple of) - but this shot was taken from below (the classic 'ear' is the topside on this one). I was smitten by this particular one once I checked the pic properly as it looks so much like a velvet hat - lost perhaps by a careless fairy during the night? lol. If said fairy would like to reclaim it, I can tell them exactly where it is!
Seen better as a LARGE SIZE HAT!
The other blip contender was also a Jews Ear, which had retained some of the rain we had yesterday - it reminded me of a rather bizarre looking bird-bath! See it here.
I would've liked to go back tomorrow and re-shoot the runner-up for my blip - but I'm now on leave for the rest of this week, so no work again until Monday - Wooooo-hoooooo!
Have a good evening blippers. xx
