Life through the lens...

Some Young Punks!

Who else but some young Australians would call a wine
"Naked On Roller Skates"?!!

This wine is made in McLaren Vale by a three young wine makers who call themselves "Some Young Punks"!
The back label reads:
"We blame the booze. The whiff and the swill did us in and all that was left to do was to make some more.In many ways the wines that weren't worth the pull on the cork caused this as much as the wines that we will never have the pleasure of decorking again. This is Passion, a monster bigger than the three of us that leads us to soapbox, grandstand and sometimes pass out on the couch.

It is 85% Shiraz and 15%Mataro. alc 14.5%. and says 750ml. of thrills!
And it is a big yummy wine. But not like some Australian wines that are "all up front and no behind" This has a lot of "behind" too! A seriously good red, inspite of the fun name!

( thanks Jen for the use of your slippers in the photograph!)

This was the final wine we tasted last night.
Rob, who calls himself "a shopkeeper who sells wine" gave us a wonderful evening with good wines to taste and lots of laughter.
He is funnier than most of the young stand up comedians.(although he doesn't realise it)
We all had a great evening, followed by a good meal.
We will be visiting his wine shop next week!

At the moment I am in the middle of preparing our Valentine's Dinner.
Some of our favourite dishes,
Prawn Cocktail.
Fillet steak in Sherry and Cream sauce, with Gratin Dauphinois., and french beans.
Soft Pistachio Meringues filled with oranges and rhubarb.

To drink , our last bottle of Saint Gayan, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, 2006.
brought back from our holidays there last year.
(only 4 months and we will be there again!)

So Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Hope you all enjoy it.
