Work

This is the machine I am working with during my placement in China. It is a micro- Electrical Dischage machine that cuts tiny, weeny little holes in metal. The tool is an electrode that discharges current to remove tiny amounts of material (literally atoms at a time) from the surface of the work piece.

Just now I am working on cutting 100 holes 0.03 mm in diameter and 2mm deep. Its kind of tedious but the big geek in me finds it facinating that a machine can cut holes smaller than it is possible to see.
