P & W MacLellan

This is the site of MacLellan's famous Clutha engineering works. The company was first registered on 14 February 1812 by Donald MacLellan.

February 14 1942 also marks the day that the last of the British and Australian troops retreating from the Imperial Japanese Army fell back across the Cavanagh Suspension Bridge into Singapore City. The bridge was built by P & W MacLellan at the Clutha works.
