Hardship
I have no ability to feel how hard life must have been for the boy who carved this love letter into the rocks while he hid from the British soldiers some hundred years ago (during the second Boer war).
According to the story we were told, his family had been arrested and sent to a concentration camp. The son of the farmer avoided capture by hiding in a cave for three months. He wrote a letter to his girlfriend in the rocks, a girl who had fallen in love with an English officer. According to the story he was captured after three months and imprisoned. He subsequently took his own life.
Just an old story but with some power left in it.
