It was a tough day. My friend and I decided to go to Hakodate but even though we had got up early, the next train to get there was at 12:22pm (The Hokuto Super Express or the North Star Super Express). So we had a few hours to kill. We hung out at the Hokkaido University Campus grounds, enjoying the river and powder snow. Had a quick stop at Yodobashi Camera and got ready to go on the train. The train was 20 minutes late (!?!?) and took about 30 minutes to leave the tracks. The journey was 3 hours and 20 minutes with no seats available. We get to Hakodate at about 5:05pm and the last train back to Sapporo was 7:45!!!! So we made the best out of it, went to the piers, a few burger restaurants that were only available in Hakodate, took the ropeway up to see a spectacular view of Hakodate and saw the oldest concrete light pole in Japan !?!?! All this whilst during a heavy heavy snowstorm. Amazing. Anyway, we got to the station and waited for 7:45pm train.... which arrived at 11pm........freezing, wet socks and tired, we made it back to Sapporo at 2:30am.... I still had energy to take my last few photos of Sapporo.
