Border Run

It used to be a lot more inconvenient for people wanting to extend their visa. I've heard stories of every three months needing to make 14 hour train trips to stay in Malaysia for a few days while visits back and forth from the embassy were made.

For me, it was simply sitting on a bus for a few hours, walking across the border, standing in a line to exit the country, paying for a Cambodian visa so I could get an entrance and exit stamp from another country, then waiting in another line to get stamped back into Thailand.

It's a wonderful feeling, walking back across the border into familiar territory...a combination of relief, gratefulness to be back in a country where I can speak the language and feel more comfortable, and peace knowing I'm where I'm supposed to be.
