The new home of the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra

This is the building which won the competition as the new home of Kent Nagano's Montreal Symphonic Orchestra. I had reservations at first when I saw the design, because I had seen detailed sketches of one of the runner ups and theirs was grand and distinctive and would have put us on the map had it won. But I have to admit as I walk by this building that it is nice, though more conservative for my taste. It does look good, with it windowed wall and the honeyed wood on top. It is all wood inside, every angle calculated for obtaining the best acoustic. I heard the acoustic is indeed just perfect, adjusted to the sound of a pin falling on the floor. I have yet to go inside which I am very much looking forward to.
