Cape Gooseberry Seeds
Also known as physalis edulis, this is a small, smooth round fruit wrapped in a papery case that resembles a Chinese lantern. The fruit itself is a pretty orange-gold colour and can be unwrapped and eaten as is, or fold back the papery wrapper and dip half way up in melted dark chocolate and serve after dinner with coffee, or as decoration on a suitable desert. They have a delicate sweet-sour taste.
Last year I grew the variety Little Lanterns in pots in the greenhouse ,if left in their papery cases they keep for weeks.
