Taormina, Italy

Our port of call was in Messina, Italy, so we decided to take the train to the town of Taormina. It felt like an eternity to hail a taxi to take us from the train station to the top of the hill (where the town is located). We saw complete strangers bicker and ream each other out for "stealing" cabs from one another. We had decided to start walking up the hill, until we realized just how high the climb would have been, and thus, walked back to the train station, where the crowd had finally dissolved.

We visited the Greek Theatre, which was where this photo was taken from. The view overlooks Taormina, as well as the Mount Etna volcano in the background, which had erupted a few days prior to our visit, hence the smoke around its peak.
