midwife crisis

close call...twice

Hubs had gone for a wet bike ride (after all the bike talk at dinner last night with earthdreamery he felt he really had to get out back out there). I'm more of a fair weather girl, so stayed in and made vast quantities of vegetable soup instead. Whist chopping the onions I heard the familiar thwak of a small bird hitting the lounge window and upon investigation it turned out to be this gorgeous little chaffinch.
Past experiences have taught me there's no need to rush out to resuscitate, even though they look dead (well except for the dead ones) -just leave them alone as they will usually come to if left alone. Just beware of any cats!
All was going well, the little bird had taken a good 10 minutes to come back round and was quietly sitting in the grass slightly concussed wondering who he was, how he got there and why his head hurt, when himself whizzed into the back garden on his bike and missed running him over by about 2 mms! That was one way to aid the recovery, he flew off no problem and probably can't even remember the big blurry human taking pictures of him while he was seeing stars!
