FIGGY's Sporadic Blips

Where else but Kelvingrove ........

.... Art Gallery and Museum can you while away the hours for free on a drab wet Glasgow Saturday?

For many Glaswegians it will always be a magical place.

Opened in 1901 it is the most visited museum in the United Kingdom outside London.

Having recently gone through a three year refurbishment at a cost of £28m it now has a extended basement area and has over 8000 exibits on display.

There is a myth that the building was built back-to-front and that the architect jumped from one of the towers on realising the mistake. This is however untrue, the entrance always having been intended to face into Kelvingrove Park.

If you never have the pleasure of visiting, you'll never know what you're missing!
