Magic
Despite the Siberian temperatures, we've tried to have a 'normal' family Saturday. So, up late for everyone, then in to catch the end of a very quiet market in town. Those stall-holders who had braved the cold (-7 at 11.30am, so heaven only knows what it was like at 6am when they were arriving) were looking frozen solid. The stall I wanted wasn't even there - not that I blame them.
After the market we decided to have a quick walk so, of course, instead of going along roads that we knew were fine, Mr B decided to explore new country roads in search of adventure. Happily the 4WD kept us clear of most slipping and sliding, and we found a new (sheltered) route up to the walk along the roman road. Here's Conor showing off his snowy magic trick. The biting wind made us very grateful to see the car again, and we headed home for bacon rolls with 'proper' bacon brought by Mr B from the UK. Very good indeed.
The afternoon has been about movies and Monopoly with Mr B winning so comfortably that he even had time to devise an iTunes playlist to accompany the game (all about money, of course). The kids had a few harsh lessons in parents not always being nice, and I learned that despite having played Monopoly about 200 times in my life, I'm just never going to win.
Ah well, Mr B is cooking duck and chips so I suppose I win in some ways. Though knocking half a tooth off today while eating doesn't feel like a win...
