Fruit Snacks
On Fridays...on my way to babysit my grandson...I always pass a fruit orchard named Muellers. I've wanted to pull over and shoot these apples, but there is no shoulder on which to pull.
I don't understand why these 2 long rows of apple trees do not drop their unpicked fruit. And...I was also surprised that some form of animal didn't eat them up.
A big herd of starlings were swarming the trees. There were no cars behind me, so I just stopped on the road. They were picking at the apples. Can you imagine eating a nice mushy apple that has been rotting for 2-3 months? YUMMY! Not exactly a crunchy hot apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream.
As for babysitting and life in general...If you can just learn one thing a day...perhaps your mind will stay fresh. My tidbit today came from Sid, the science kid. Who knew there were 7 different colors in a rainbow? Plus...the fact came in the form of a little ditty...
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue...
and there's indigo and violet, too.
My grandson likes Sid. I asked him about Sids hair. "How come Sid and all his friends have hair that looks like somebody took the end of an old mop apart, and put it on their heads?" He had no answer. I'll have to ask his mother...who is a hairdresser. If she has an answer...that would be 2 things I could have learned today.
